Questions:
Did you choose to take this course or was it required? Regardless of why you enrolled, what do you hope to learn? What kind of communication most intrigues you? After reviewing the course syllabus, Blackboard, and your textbook, which communication topics do think will be most helpful to you in the future? How will this course help you in your future studies, at home or in your career?
My answers:
This course was one of the choices I have to choose from. Either this class or speech. It is required for my course. I choose this class because I wanted to experience something different. I took speech before in high school, and I thought I might try this course see how it goes. I hope to learn how to communicate more effectively with patients and coworkers because they will be important in my career. I want to be able to go into a conversation comfortably with a patient I know little about. I want to be able to start a conversation and be able to keep one going.
I would say that group communication intrigues me most. It makes things more interesting. You get to share ideas, and what I like most is you learn from other's ideas. You also get to meet new people. After looking at the topics in my book, I think that the topic Communicating in the Small Group is most helpful to me in the future. It deals with leading others, and resolving conflicts. I think as a nurse, sometime in our career we will have to be leaders, and we will have to be good at solving conflicts. Especially when it comes to saving a life. I think that working in groups and teams will be essential in the health field. You need to work together well to make the outcome good. This course may help me in a lot of things. Like many others, I don't do well when I am trying to speak in front of a group of people. It makes me nervous. This course may teach me to use communications in different ways that will help me to communicate comfortably. I want to be good at communicating whether the group size is big or small.
