Delivery:
I thought for the most part that I gave enough eye contact. I try my best not to look too much at my note cards. I did use power point, just wasn't too clear in the video. There were times when I used hand gestures, and I wasn't sure if it was distracting or not. Sometimes I don't even know I am using hand gestures.
Research:
I thought most of my resources were credible. Some information I got from google book online. I didn't orally cite my sources though.
Organization:
I thought most of my information were organized. I tried my best to deliver my speech as clear as I can. Although I wasn't in front of a whole class, I was still pretty nervous.
Preparation:
I rehearsed my speech a couple times before actually filming it. It took me two tries to get the best video. The first one I kept messing up on my speech, so I decided to just start over.

Speakers
There were times when I experienced a good speech. It actually was just recently that we had an oral project in our microbiology class. A student, who has previous teaching experience delivered an awesome speech. Her posture was good, she was not slouching or nervous at all. Her body language tells us she is ready, and she got everything down. She maintained eye contact at all times. She had lots of illustrations, examples of her disease, and very good definitions. Her organization of ideas were very interesting. It helped the class to pay attention. She had a small quiz at the end of the class. It made her oral presentation interesting.
At that same class, there was a girl who gave a speech where I can tell she was very nervous. She had no eye contact, and I can hear her voice shaking. Maybe she was so nervous that she messed up on her facts and definitions. It wasn't very interesting at all. In fact, it was kind of hard to understand. Her head was always down, and she seemed calm, but her voice was hard to follow. Her tone was like a robot, and she talked very slow at times. It made it hard to concentrate on what she was presenting.

Joan of Arc
I chose Joan of Arc as my female leader to write on. I chose her because she was a brave, young woman who led many others to victory. Because of her bravery, she was not appreciated, but burned to death. She inspired me by showing that a woman can do much more than what they are expected to do, and people has to open their eyes and appreciate that. She had unstoppable spirit in her, and she doesn't let a sword stop her from defeating them. No matter what gender you are, you should be able to be a leader in whatever you do. So those are the reasons I chose her.
Thesis Statement
The heroine, Joan of Arc, led the French army to victory in battles at a young age, but later captured to be put on trial for charges, and burned by the English.

Group Project
Group participation
Communication is important in a group project. Especially when you don't see each group member face to face. I though I did well in communicating with my group. I felt that I got back to my group often, and updated them with things I found were important. I responded back to my group within a quick amount of time, and I felt my group responded back to me in a good timing most of the time. I also felt I participated pretty well in this group project. Whether it be discussing or decision making, or coming up with ideas. I put forth as much participation as I could.
I really felt that the procrastination could really be a problem. Since it's an online class, procrastination is so easy to do. Since you don't have to attend to class every other day, you tend to lack more. I felt like it was easy to hold things off longer than you expect too. Other than procrastination, I felt that with my group we did pretty good. Sometimes communication can be harder, for example not being able to get a response as soon as you expect, but it didn't happen too often to be a problem.

Samoan Nonverbal artifact
This specific tattoo is called Pe'a. Only for men.
The Samoan Tattoo -Link article about Samoan tattoo
This article explains the different tattoos that the Samoan's do. There are actually quite a few kinds of tattoos. It explains the difference in the tattoos from traditional ones to just fashion tattoos. I want to focus more on the traditional tattoos that puts a meaning to their traditions and culture. In this article it goes more in depth with how they do it, and why they do it, and what their beliefs are on these traditional tattoos. It also explains what the meaning to getting these traditional tattoos. An example I saw was the significance of the traditional tattoo called "pe'a" for the guys is meant to show that the person wearing it holds a Chief tittle within the village or district. I think that tattoos are good illustrations that represent this culture. Of course, tattoos will not be the only thing I will be researching about, but it's one that I will look into.

Generation Y
The generation I belong to would be "Generation Y." That is being born between 1977 to 1998. This generation understand a lot more about technology because they grew up in this environment. Technology has always been part of their life, and the people in this generation probably would have a hard time without it. They prefer to using online sources to learn, and taking online courses. The primary source of communication is through technology, for example text messages. This generation is also more creative at solving problems.
"Generation Y" people are individualistic, creative, and they like to write their own rules. They work well in a team, and they strive for balance in their work and life. They value in achievement and are confident in their ability to get things done within their time period.
This generation is most ethnically diverse generation ever. More Hispanics and Asians along with other ethnics are growing. The perceptions of other ethnics are changing also. Generation Y is more open to accepting other diverse backgrounds and beliefs.
There has been lots of violence around the world that occurred. The world is more concerned about violence now, and more cautious. Since the attack on 9/11, and terrorism attacks, and school shootings people globally are taking violence more serious.

Group Skills
Skills I can help with in a group
1. Organize: I like organizing the things I do, and writing the plans down so I know exactly when and where it is. I like to plan ahead of time to make sure there is enough time to get things done.
2. Active listening: I know it's hard to listen to what others have to say. I am a person with little words, and I don't like to cut out others. I listen to what others have to say, and I take their opinions into consideration.
3. Leadership: I may not be a person who can speak their mind all the time, but I know the limits. I want everyone to give out their ideas, and I will listen to what others have to say. I do not make all the decisions on my own. When it comes down to the team, it's all about team work.
Proposed conduct:
What I think would be a great idea is everyone updates each other, whether it's through email, text, phone calls, or meet ups. Have a day and a specific time that everyone must update. Even if you don't have anything, at least let the group know. This way we all will know how much work we got done, and what we still need to do.
My Conflict Rankings:
- Collaborate: 15
- Competition 9
- Compromise 13
- Accommodate 13
- Avoidance 12
In a way I do think this is true, but then again it depends on the situation of the conflict. Most of the time in a conflict I want everyone to cooperate, and agree. I don't like to see the other people lose, but neither do I want to lose. I like to look for a solution that will make everyone happy, but it is the hardest to do also. It's hard for everyone to agree on one thing I know that, but I like to make it fair.
